Born in Fall River, daughter of the late William and Catherine (Reddy) Broadbent, she had moved from Fall River to New Bedford before settling in Dartmouth in 1963.
Mrs. Martino had helped run her husband’s shoe repair business in the Star Store in New Bedford for many years and was a Bookkeeper at Fortin Electric for several years before retiring. She had also worked as a Secretary at the Gidley School for a short time.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed sewing and loved playing bingo. Most importantly she loved being with her family and was a huge advocate for her children’s pursuit of higher education.
Survivors include: her children, William Martino and his wife Linda of Wisconsin, Barbara Martino of Granbie, Carole Barboza and her husband Lawrence of Dartmouth and Marilyn McCorkill and her husband Norman also of Dartmouth; five grandchildren, Marci, Chad, Marc, Tara and William; ten great grandchildren and was the grandmother of the late Jonathan McCorkill.
Her funeral will be held Friday, June 13, 2014 at 11 AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN Home of Memorial Tribute, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth, followed by her funeral mass at 12 Noon in St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River. Visiting hours, Thursday, 5-8 PM.
Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
