Born in Syracuse, N.Y. Bill grew up in Danbury and attended Danbury Schools. He was a 1980 graduate of Danbury High School. Bill's working career was spent in the shipping and receiving industry and he was currently employed by T.P. Engineering in Danbury.
Billy (aka) Pruitt, Billy Mac, Uncle Bud, and Bampa Bill enjoyed many sports having played floor hockey, men's slow pitch softball, as well as coaching Danbury Women's softball for many years. He was a devoted fan of the NY Islanders hockey team, Washington Redskins, and never gave up on the Chicago Cubs. At certain times of the year he loved flipping from sport to sport watching many games at once intently with a bag of M&M's near by. Bill was a kind hearted, compassionate "Gentle Giant", literally as he had a passion for going to the gym daily. He spent many years at the War Memorial working out and was currently a member of a Brookfield gym.
Bill is survived by his wife Kathi; her sons Justin (Julie) and Brad (Heather) and their children, Mason and Sienna, who Bill considered as his own grandchildren. Bill's survivors also include his mother in law, Roberta Willis and brother-in law David Willis (Mary), sister-in-law Carrie Wright. Bill was a part of a huge family and was a loving devoted son to his Mom, Dorothy McCarthy, visiting her often at Hancock Hall. He was a wonderful brother and will be deeply missed by his siblings Sharon Gyllensten (Nils), Doug Jutton (Rebecca), Jim Jutton (Joyce), Karen Cantatore (Ray), his twin Mary Jimenez (Nick), Allison Shetz, and Pam Baker (Matt). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews whom he loved deeply. He leaves behind an incredible group of friends and special people including (Auntie) Linda Duncan and his godson Nolan. Bill was pre-deceased by his father William McCarthy Sr. and two nephews.
Due to Bill's charitable nature, in lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory would be greatly appreciated to the following organizations. The Brookfield Fire Department, Police Department or Hancock Hall, 31 Staple Street, Danbury, Ct.
A Memorial Gathering will take place on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017 from 2pm-5pm at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT.
