William Homer Lucas, a resident of Ridgefield, CT, passed away on Friday, April 18, after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was at Calvary Hospital, Bronx, NY, surrounded by his wife Alice and three sons; Richard, Robert, and James.
Mr. Lucas was active with the Ridgebury Congregational Church. He served on its Board of Trustees and Communications Committee for many years. He was also on the Board of the Ridgefield Historical Society where he served as the Communications Coordinator.
Throughout Mr. Lucas’ business career, he specialized in multiple aspects of advertising. While occasionally working on the client-side he spent over 30 years with the Grey Advertising agency, in New York City. At his departure from Grey he was Vice President, Management Supervisor.
At one point, he joined RCA Records as Director of Creative Services. During his four years at RCA he collaborated with artists planning their advertising campaigns. He worked with Elvis Presley and his manager Colonel Parker, the Jefferson Airplane, John Denver, and many more.
In 1989, Mr. Lucas embarked on a new direction in advertising. With a single partner he started a recruitment firm which grew to become, Lucas, Berger, McGuire, and O’Brien, at which Mr. Lucas was the Senior Partner. This very successful boutique firm specialized in advertising account management and creative talent. In 2003, Mr. Lucas retired to Ridgefield.
Mr. Lucas served with the US Army (1950-1952) in Germany in an Armored Division and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sgt. First Class.
He is survived by his wife Alice Kenny Lucas; three sons: Richard, Robert, and James; and seven grandchildren. All of whom he loved very much.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 26,2014 at 11 am at Ridgebury Congregational Church, 605 Ridgebury Road, Ridgefield, CT 06877, 203-748-2806 There will be a visitation on Friday, April 25, 2014 from 5pm – 7 pm at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury CT.
