Sandra Lynn Modzelewski Weiner, age 63, of Brookfield, beloved wife of Keith Frances Weiner, passed away at her home peacefully on Friday, November 7, 2014. Born in Danbury, Sandra was the daughter of Ruth Nagle Modzelewski and the late John C. Modzelewski, Sr.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her loving children, Brian Weiner and his partner Ethan Wang of Boston, MA, Dr. Tammy Weiner Curatilo and her husband Philip, cherished grandchildren Francesca and Leonardo of Shaker Heights, OH. Additional survivors include her mother Ruth of Danbury, brother Mark Modzelewski and wife Karin of Brookfield, sister Cheryl Dekany and husband Steve of Danbury, brother John Modzelewski, Jr. and wife Deborah of Newtown, sister Carol Modzelewski of Bethel, brother-in-law Alan Weiner and wife Candee of Brookfield, and many nieces and nephews. Sandra was predeceased by her father John, and her grandparents Herman Nagle, Sadie French Nagle Esselman, Antoni and Janina (Mierzejewski) Modzelewski, all of Danbury.
Sandra and her husband Keith were married in 1975 in Danbury and later moved to Brookfield. Sandra was a graduate of Danbury High School and worked at Reads Department Store managing multiple departments, before raising her family. She was an integral part of the family real estate development business of her husband Keith and brother-in-law Alan, and made it a success. Sandra most recently managed the Maplewood Indoor Flea Market for the past 22 years, and loved her job. Without her, the lives of the Weiner family would not have been as fulfilled as they are today.
Sandra was a beautiful, intelligent woman who was known for her outgoing personality and infectious laugh. She loved playing kickball and singing songs with her grandchildren. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and always put her family first, ahead of her own needs.
Friends may call at Green Funeral home, 57 Main St. Danbury, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm Wed Nov. 12th. A celebration of Sandra’s life will be at Thursday, Nov 13 at 10:30 AM in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 119 Juction Rd. in Brookfield. Interment will follow at Milltown Rural Cemetery in Brewster, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the March of Dimes at www.marchofdimes.org.
