A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at St. Peter Cemetery Chapel, 71 Lake Avenue Ext., Danbury, CT 06810. A reception will follow for family and friends to share memories.
Ritchie was born in Danbury on September 27, 1951, to Livio and Rosemarie (Schwab) Rizzo, both predeceased. A talented carpenter and builder, Ritchie took great pride in his craftsmanship throughout his career. He was equally passionate about giving back to the Danbury community he loved through tireless volunteer work and service. Ritchie could often be found lending his time and humor calling bingo games at St. Peter's Church, VFW, and Moose Lodge, where he was renowned as the "best bingo caller ever." His warm spirit and dedication to spreading joy will be deeply missed by his extensive bingo family and many friends.
Ritchie had a lifelong love for animals of all kinds, from rescuing his childhood pet skunk to feeding his “neighborhood pets” - a family of raccoons and deer who eagerly awaited his daily visits. He had a heart of gold and found great meaning in caring for others, both human and animal.
Ritchie was preceded in death by Maxine, his adoring wife of 38 years. He is survived by his daughter Billie-Jo; siblings Vikki, Carol, Marie, Teri, Lisa Gina, Tony, and their spouses; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family; and his companion Dawn.
His family will be forever changed and he will never be forgotten for the wonderful father, brother, uncle, and great uncle he was. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Wildlife Federation in Ritchie's memory.
