Rekka was a valuable of the ComNet family and did wonderful work for us.  We always enjoyed her talents and she is missed by all of us at ComNet.

I met Rekka at Hon Dal. My first day practicing I was nervous but she showed me the ropes and I just thought she was super cool! We talked about nerd stuff like Sailor Moon, Ghost busters and all types of comics. Then she introduced me to Matt and we all hit it off.

Rekka and Matt would always invite me over later on and we would have game nights with our group of friends. I felt very happy and welcomed. I loved when we all would play board games because we would make each other laugh non stop. One Christmas they invited me over and let me hang out with them all day because my family was away. 

Rekka and Matt Even took me to get my seconds tattoo. And we always cracked jokes. To this day I haven't gotten another tattoo because...i wanted to go again with them. 

Even small moments of just watching movies like Alien or even Sailor Moon meant the world to me.  Heck Rekka was even nice enough to help me with Soo Bak Do when I got stuck. A true friend.

I wish I could have seen her one more time or have been an even better friend. Someone like Rekka you want to return all the kindness given and then some. I looked up to hee because when she was able to publish and create so many wonderful books I ended up reading without telling her. But she hired me to read one of her audio books and she believed in me.

I'll miss you friend. 



In addition to her wonderful talent creating fascinating aliens and weaving compelling and memorable stories, Rekka was also an extremely generous and caring member of the local writing community. 
As a long time Municipal Liaison associated with National Novel Writing Month (NANOWRIMO) and as leader of the Fairfield County Writers Group, she dedicated many hours helping other writers pursue their dreams of publication through her organization skills and tireless efforts. 

As a friend she was always a cheer leader, attentive, and caring. 

The universe has lost some of its sparkle. 


Rekka was a wonderful person. Kind, thoughtful,  strong and a tireless advocate for a better and more inclusive world. Constantly bringing out the best in the people around her, being an excellent example to us all. Sadly there are not more like her. For most of us the world might not stopped when Rekka died. All the mundane minutia of daily life continued on, and I think that's how Rekka would have liked it.

I met Rekka through Han Dol, but she and Matt quickly welcomed me into their social circle. So many good memories inside and outside of class. I remember well one particular day that Master Tsai decided we should do some training at a beach. At one point, we were in a circle waist deep in the water, taking turns facing off one on one in the middle. Rekka and I were paired and I assumed due to the size difference and similar experience that I would prevail, though I had no intention of going easy on her. But that day her technique was better and she knocked me down handily.

Admittedly, I was a little embarrassed, but I was mostly impressed. I also missed her initial reaction because I was immediately submerged in the water. Later, we got to watch a recording of the exchange and I saw that after her victory she had raised her hands in the air and yelled out a delighted “yes!” My heart leaps for joy every time I think about that moment, but now there is a tinge of sadness. The feeling of her not being here is so hard to grasp.

I had classes and became good friends with both Matt and Recca, both very talented and always practicing their craft. Recaa really impressed me with her book in our children's book illustration class at RSAD, and I wasn't surprised she continued into the realm of Sci-fi.
We lost and Artist, writer, and a dear friend I never got to see enough of.

Although I have not seen Rekka in several years, I remember her fondly. She was a fierce and brave warrior, for sure. Sending my heartfelt condolences.
