Maureen was born in Yonkers, NY, the daughter of the late Roland C. Merlino and Mary Lunning (DePaola). She attended Commerce High School in Yonkers. Maureen received her BA in nursing from WCSU.
Maureen worked at various local businesses while raising four children. In 1994, while raising her last teenager she took on the task of obtaining her degree in Nursing. She graduated at the top of her class 4 years later at age 56. Maureen spent 15 years working as a registered nurse in Cape Cod.
She was often found walking on Lighthouse Beach, viewing sunsets at Rock Harbor or Herring Cove, and many trips whale watching in Provincetown with her grandchildren. Maureen then returned to New Fairfield with her husband to be closer to her family and grandchildren. She attended many sporting events, recitals and graduations.
In addition to her parents, Maureen was predeceased by her brother, Jeffery Francis Merlino of New Milford, CT.
In addition to her husband of 59 years, Maureen is survived by her sister, Marybeth DePaola; brother, Roland C. Merlino; brother, Frank Merlino and his wife, Clara. Her daughter Maureen Reilly; and three sons: Patrick Reilly and his fiance, Cheryl; Joseph Reilly and his wife, Diane; and Daniel Reilly and Dawn Matera, all of New Fairfield. 10 grandchildren: Justin, Patrick (PJ), Alex, Christopher, Joseph, Corey, Benjamin, Braden, Lilybella and Chloe; as well as 4 great-grandchildren Grace, Gabriel, Cashius and Ezekiel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at St. Edward the Confessor Church, New Fairfield. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, New Fairfield, CT.
Friends and family will be received from 4:00pm -7:00pm on December 28, 2022 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St, Danbury.
