Mary was born in Manhattan and grew up in White Plains, NY. After graduating from White Plains High School in 1938, Mary worked for the FBI where she met her husband James J Lynch. Mary and Jim married in 1946 and thereafter enjoyed 57 years together raising their nine children. Mary and Jim lived in Jackson Heights New York, Washington DC, Dearborn Michigan, and Dyer Indiana before returning to New York and raising their nine children in Wantagh New York. Mary was active throughout her life in schools, church, and community activities and worked as an administrative assistant at Hofstra Law School. Every summer was spent at the "lake house" at Candlewood Lake in New Fairfield Connecticut and in 1986 Mary and Jim began spending each winter at their home in Herons Glen in Fort Myers Florida. In her later years, Mary enjoyed her role as the matriarch of the family, delighting in her time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary is predeceased by her husband Jim, her brothers Donald and Edward along with her sister Kay. Mary is survived by her sister Elizabeth. Mary also leaves behind her children Tom (Pat), Jim (Debbie), Mike (Gloria), Larry (Gloria), Joe (Mindy), Don (Kathy), Peter (Barbara), Bob and Mary Jo (Paul) Barry, thirty-five grandchildren, and thirty-six great-grandchildren and counting.
Calling hours will occur Thursday, February 27, 2020 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St, Danbury, Connecticut 06810. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, February 28, 2020 at 10:00 AM at St. Edward The Confessor Church, 21 Brush Hill Rd., New Fairfield, CT Burial will immediately follow at Mountain View Cemetery New Fairfield, CT.
