Maria Marrero Rivera

Maria was born in Coamo, Puerto Rico; a daughter of the late Erasmo Marrero and Julia Ortiz Marrero. She attended high school in Coamo, Puerto Rico.

Maria had six children; survivors are Hector N. Rivera, Edwin Rivera and Sotero Rivera II. Daughters are the late Mayda Rivera, Maria Aviles Rivera, and Carmen Rodriguez Rivera. Maria had grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by a sister and three brothers.

Maria worked for the Danbury public school bus system and enjoyed being a homemaker. She got to live in Germany with her husband when he was in the U.S. army, where her daughter Carmen was born. After leaving Germany, they moved back to Puerto Rico, after a few years moved to New York City and afterwards to Danbury, CT, where she resided for forty-two years until her passing.

Maria loved her family and friends, and enjoyed her morning coffee with crackers while she watched TV.

A Christian service will be celebrated on January 28, 2023 at 1:00pm at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St, Danbury, CT.

Friends and family will be received from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the Green Funeral Home preceding the service.

Burial will be held at St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury at 11:00am (Section 12) on Monday, January 30, 2023.
