Maria Helena Malta, 60 of Brookfield, CT passed away comfortably on Monday, May 20, 2019 at Yale New Haven Hospital with her husband, Luis M. Malta, by her side. She fought a short but hard battle with the rare brain disease called CJD.
Maria was born in Portugal on December 24, 1958. She was the daughter of the late Pedro Lopes Rainha and Joaquina Pais Custodio Ferreira.
Maria married her husband Luis on June 2, 1984. She immigrated to America in 1977. She enjoyed baking and cooking for her family and was a woman of strong faith. She was a very loving and caring person who would do anything to see others happy even if she had to give the shirt off her back.
She was predeceased by her late sibling Isabel Ferreira.
Maria is survived by her mother, Joaquina Pais Custodio Ferreira and her stepfather, Celestino A. Ferreira. Her husband, Luis M Malta. Her sons: Jeffrey Malta and his wife, Marylup Malta; and Kevin Malta. Her brothers: Ceasar Lopes and his wife, Anna Lopes, and Carlos Ferreira. Her sisters: Maria Marinho; Fernanda Demagalhaes and her husband, Reginaldo Demagalhaes. Her nieces and nephews: Isabella Marinho, Justin Lopes, Tiago Marinho, Bryanna Lopes, Tifanie Ferreira, Ashley Demagalhaes, and several others overseas. Her grandchild: Aria Rose Malta. She will be greatly missed and remembered forever.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday May 24, 2019 at 10:00am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 149 Deer Hill Ave., Danbury. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday evening, May 23, 2019 from 4:00pm until 8pm at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St. Danbury.
