Alice was born in Lousa, Portugal to the late Joao Gasper de Matos and the late Alda Antunes. She immigrated to the United States in 1966 and settled in Danbury.
A seamstress with Castro Convertibles for over 20 years, Alice was most recently with Heli-Coil Corp., retiring in 1999.
A communicant and faithful member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Danbury, Alice was also a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her love for music and dance was only surpassed by her phenomenal cooking ability. Her laughter and smile will always be remembered by many.
Besides her parents, Alice was predeceased by her brother: Luis Gasper de Matos.
In addition to her husband, Alice is survived by her children: Antonio M. Fernandes and his partner, David Rowan, of Brookfield; and her daughter, Isabel Carvalho and her husband, Arthur, of Danbury. By three grandchildren: Ian Carvalho and his wife, Brianna; Kristen Carvalho; and Nicole Carvalho. She is also survived by her sister, Anita Domingos of Portugal; sisters-in-law Alice of Danbury, Manuela of Portugal, and Tina of Portugal; brother-in-law Pompeu of Portugal; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016 at Sacred Heart Church, Danbury with the Rev. Peter Towsley, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
Friends will be received from 4pm-7pm on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
