Maria Cerra

Maria worked in patient care for 16 years at Danbury Hospital. After 16 years of service, she retired from Danbury Hospital in 2010.

Maria's hobbies included gardening, cooking, knitting and crocheting. She was famous for always having a pot of water ready to make pasta for her son's friends, and crocheting beautiful bed spreads while watching tv at night. Her greatest joy in her life were her 7 grandchildren. Up until her last breath, her grandchildren would make her smile like nothing else.

Maria married Francesco Cerra in 1973 in Decollatura, Calabria Italy. Together they raised two children: Giovanni and Carlo Cerra.

Maria is survived by her son Carlo, daughter in laws Kimberly Cerra and Mary Abi Cerra, her seven grandchildren, Hailey, Christian, Antonio, Francesco, Matteo, Sofia and Lucia Cerra all of Concord, NC. Along with several nieces and nephews, Maria is survived by her sister, Sestina Maruca of Serrestretta, Calabria Italy

She was preceded in death by her husband Francesco, her son Giovanni and granddaughter Anastasia.

The family has entrusted Green Funeral Home with the arrangements. A public viewing is scheduled for June 9th, 2022 at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St Danbury CT 06810 from 5-8pm.

A funeral mass will take place at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel, 15 Pepper St, Monroe CT 06468 at 10am, followed by entombment at St. Peter Cemetery Mausoleum in Danbury, CT.

The family requests that all women dress modestly if attending Mass.
