Lisbeth Dobelin Spiehler of Bethel, CT died on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013 at Danbury Hospital with her loving daughter Marlise by her side. Lisbeth was born on November 22, 1933 in Sulzberg, Germany to the late Frederick and Else Dobelin.
After graduating from Sigmarigen Hospital Nursing School she emigrated to England then to the US in 1956 where she met and married Sigmund Spiehler in New York City. Lisabeth lived in Milford and Fairfield, CT and then eventually Bethel, CT where she worked private duty for the Nurse’s Registry of Stamford and Danbury, CT where she retired in 1996. Lisbeth was an avid reader and learner, independent and very self-reliant. She was known to repair stone walls, build closets and yet manage to still bake wonderful cheesecakes. A loving person, she was an avid pet lover, especially to her special dog “Friday”. She celebrated her German Heritage and was very proud to be an American.
Mrs. Spiehler is survived by her beloved daughter Marlise Spiehler of Bethel, CT her sister Cristal Nussbaumer, her brother Ernst and his wife Monica and several nieces and nephews all whom live in Sulzberg and Heitersheim Germany.
There will be a Memorial Service held at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT on Saturday December 21, 2013 from 3pm to 5pm. A private burial will be held in Sulzberg, Germany at a future date.
