Joseph W. O'Connor, 85, of Brookfield, CT, husband of Janet (Morgan) O'Connor, passed away on December 31, 2024, at Danbury Hospital. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, son of the late Bernard and Catherine O'Connor.
Joe attended New York City schools and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Intrepid. He traveled to many places along the Mediterranean Sea and often reminisced about his time in the navy. Joe later lived in Palisades Park, New Jersey, and graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He was employed for many years at Agfa-Gevaert in New Jersey. Joe later worked at various local companies and retired from Watson Laboratories. Still active after retiring, he worked part-time for many years at several local auto dealerships.
Joe is survived by his children Joseph (Laura) O'Connor of Woodbury, Maureen (Neil) Bonanno of Old Greenwich, Patricia (Peter) Abruzzese of Brooklyn, NY, Matthew (Meredith) O'Connor of Brookfield, and Colleen O'Connor of California. He is also survived by his stepsons Paul (Dawn) Kocot of New Fairfield and Wayne (Chantal) Kocot of Danbury, as well as his 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, nephews, and niece. He was predeceased by his sister Mary Rabito and his brother Raymond O'Connor.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, on Monday, January 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a prayer service at 11:00am, with burial to follow at St. Peter Cemetery.
