John T. Perry, 93, of Danbury, died at his residence on July 20, 2016. John was born in Danbury, December 26, 1922, son of the late Pasquale and Grace (Perry) Perry. He was a graduate of Danbury High School, class of 1940 and also a graduate of Lincoln Academy and Norwalk Technical School. John also attended several evening classes in Danbury and the surrounding areas.
John had worked for 15 years as an assistant chemist at the E.I. Dupont Company and later for 37 years at the Heli-Coil Corporation as a special tool designer and draftsman. He was an avid gardener who experimented with tomato plants & seeds and also experimented in the hybridization of Dahlias (his favorite flower); also he was a serious collector of antiques and of John F. Kennedy memorabilia and also had been one of the original vendors at the Elephant’s Trunk Bazaar in New Milford for over 30 years.
John was a member of St. Joseph Church in Danbury, where he served as a lector at the 7:00 a.m. weekly masses for 15 years, and a former member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his longtime companion, Cecelia Guernsey. He is survived by Cecelia’s children and grandchildren, several cousins and his caregivers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, Danbury, on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place in St. Peter Cemetery. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury on Saturday, July 23, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
