John Harrison Hinckley, 78, of Castle Rock, CO, passed away playing tennis with friends on Monday, July 15, 2019. He was born May 9, 1941 in Bridgeport, CT to the late Roger and Caroline (Legat) Hinckley. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 48 years, Karen Francis Albina Lastomirsky. They had 1 daughter, Heather Lynne (Hinckley) Leslie.
John grew up in Trumbull, CT. He attended Warren Harding High School in Bridgeport. He left high school his junior year and joined the U.S. Navy for 4 years and was discharged as Petty Officer Third Class in 1962. Upon his discharge, he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of Bridgeport in 1966. He spent his entire working life in specialty packaging, selling and working with cosmetic and high-end retail companies (American Can, Eastman Kodak, Ivy Hill, and Time Warner).
John was an enthusiastic pilot, golfer, fisherman, tennis player, reader and family man. He loved to work on projects at his house, including gardening and repairing anything mechanical. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and made cross-country trips a few times a year to visit family and friends.
John and Karen lived in New Jersey, Wisconsin and Illinois. They spent over 40 years living in both Danbury and Brookfield, CT before moving out to Castle Rock, CO in 2011.
John is survived by his daughter, Heather and son-in-law, Kirk Leslie, his grandchildren, Brayden and Jensen, sister, Patricia Smith and brother, Roger “Rod” Hinckley. He had many wonderful nieces and nephews, cousins and friends, who were dear to his heart.
There will be a celebration of life gathering will be held for John in Danbury, CT. John and Karen will both be buried at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO.
