Joan was born in Danbury, CT to the late John and Anna (Beschle) Lane on August 16, 1934. She was a homemaker and loving wife to Alvin R. White for 50 years, a mom and proud grandmother. Summers were happily spent in Vermont with family at the lake house and swimming on Echo Lake. She loved the ocean, reading, the Bethel Library, and was known around Bethel for her long daily walks. She valued education, even going back to pursue a Nursing Degree in her 50’s. She especially enjoyed attending her grandson, Dean Jr.’s baseball and basketball games. Joan was a long-time member of St. Mary’s Church.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin R. White and her six sisters, Helen Wayman, Margaret Kolpa, Ann Ballwig, Dorothy Hamilton, Theresa Gleissner and Eleanor Thompson.
Joan is survived by her children, Dean White & wife, Christine of Bethel, Mark White of New York, Susan White of New Haven, Cindy White of Bethel, and grandson, Dean & wife, Danielle of Danbury and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 26 Dodgingtown Road, Bethel, CT. A private interment will follow.
There will be no calling hours.
