Jean Bonadio Fields, of Brookfield, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, Tuesday, May 2, 2023, just weeks shy of her 92nd birthday. She was the daughter of Minnie and Frank Bonadio, the second of four children. She was the beloved wife of the late Ronald Fields.
A lifelong Danbury area resident, Jean’s school friends called her Bonnie, a reference to her family’s last name and the Bonadio Candy and Tobacco Co., her family owned for many years. Jean was a hairdresser for most of her adult life, and also a much-loved school teacher.
But her proudest title was that of wife, mother to adored sons, David and Ronnie and finally grandma to her seven cherished grandchildren. When the grandkids were small, she kept them entertained with homemade crafts and board games. On their birthdays, she gifted them with her famous black and white cookies. When it was time to go home, the kids weren’t the only ones who cried.
Jean was a big-hearted woman, a loyal and devoted friend who cared deeply for the needs of others. Most of all, she was a woman of deep Christian faith. It was the very foundation of her life, her source of strength and comfort.
Jean is survived by and remembered with love by her children: David (wife, Karen), Ronald (wife Michelle); and seven grandchildren: Joshua, Rebekah, Brooklyn, Matthew, Jeremy, Kyle and Rachel. Her sister, Linda Malchisky; her brother, Gary Bonadio; and several nieces and nephews.
Her brother, Billy, predeceased her.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, May 27, 10am at Grace Family Church, 13 Covered Bridge Rd, Newtown CT - Jean’s 92 birthday
