Hong was born in South Korea, daughter of the late Yon Ku Kim and Hwa Sun Yi. She attended schools in South Korea and immigrated to the United States in 1983. She had worked for the Fairfield Processing Company, prior to her retirement. She has been a longtime member of the Connecticut Korean Sarang Church of Danbury, where she has served as an Elder for more than 30 years. She was a loving and giving mother and grandmother and a blessing to all that had the privilege to know her. She was very dedicated to serving her church and was a good cook and avid gardener.
She is survived by her children: Yong Nam Kim and wife Misook Park of South Korea, Hana Kim of Brookfield, Yong Sik Kim and wife Munyong of Brookfield, Yong Sun YI and husband David of Brookfield and Julia Ong and husband Guy Ong of Roxbury, nine grandchildren: Sang Mi Kim, Yun Mi Kim, Sun Mi Kim, Jason Kim, Michele Kim, Tina Staib, Jonathan Yi, Nathan Ong and Daniel Ong and two great grandchildren in South Korea.
Funeral services will be held at the Congregational Church of Roxbury, 24 Church St., Roxbury, CT, on Monday morning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Roxbury Cemetery. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Saturday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
