On December 22, 2018, Glenna K. (Hall) Tagliavento completed her time on earth at the age of 91. She was born on April 25, 1927 in Bridgeport to Arthur E. and Hazel Hall and moved to Danbury at a young age and spent the rest of her life there.
She graduated from Danbury High School in 1945 and soon thereafter began work at Mallory Hat Factory. She met the love of her life, Dominic “Tommy” Tagliavento, Jr. and they were married in April, 1948. They went on over the next decade to have three children Joy, Arthur and Mark.
Glenna worked at Caldor department store and for Robert M. Kahn in the bail bond industry before settling into the job that she was meant to do for the rest of her life at Danbury Superior Courthouse. For over 30 years, she loved the court job and all of her co-workers, so much so that after she retired she returned to the court to work mostly on a volunteer basis until she was 75. She was awarded the Liberty Bell Award during her time at the court for exceptional service and dedication to her job and was very much appreciated by the attorneys, judges and police officers with whom she worked.
Outside of work, she loved sewing and bowling and traveling to Florida and Vermont, where her sister Barbara lived. In recent years she enjoyed monthly luncheons with her fellow classmates from the DHS Class of 1945 and weekly get togethers with her dearest friends to play Trivial Pursuit. She also attended yearly gatherings with her former co-workers from Caldor.
Glenna was pre-deceased by her husband Tommy in 1964. Although she was only 36 at the time, her devotion to him was such that she stated he would be her “one and only” partner for life; although she had many, many friends over the years, she never did remarry. She was also pre-deceased by her son Mark, her brother Robert Hall and sisters, Helen Hall and Barbara (Hall) Vizvarie.
Glenna was devoted to her children and they will cherish her memory: Arthur (Grace) Tagliavento and Joy Tagliavento, both of Danbury; her four grandchildren, Lisa and Neil Tagliavento of Danbury, Maya (Philip) Close-Barber of Easthampton, MA, Graham (Elizabeth) Close of Bristol, CT, a sister-in-law Ernestine Hall, and one great-granddaughter whom she adored, Faith Close. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, several cousins, and the many, many friends she made during her lifetime. They will all miss her terribly.
Visitors will be received at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St, Danbury on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 6 PM - 8 PM; a memorial service will be held at St. James Episcopal Church, 25 West St., Danbury on Saturday, January 12 at 11:00 AM.
