Gail Re (Baldelli) Finlay, 57, of Newtown, CT, passed on this Thursday morning, September 13, 2012 at Danbury Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Gail was born on January 21, 1955, daughter of the late Mary (Dratch) and Mario Baldelli.
Gail Ann grew up on Candlewood Lake where she developed her passion for the water. She attended Danbury Schools and worked as a hair stylist, manicurist, having owned her own shop for nearly 20 years, and as a designer/CAD Drafter as part owner of Finlay & Associates. She was most recently employed at Laurel Ridge Health Care Center as an A/R assistant in the Finance Department. Gail lived in Massachusetts and Rhode Island for over 20 years, coming back to Connecticut 8 years ago. Gail was a person that loved life and projected that love to anyone who came in contact with her. Her family and friends were most cherished.
She is survived by her husband, Johnny Finlay, of Newtown, two beautiful daughters and their husbands, Natasha (Re) and her husband Erik White, of Providence, RI, and Tanya (Re) and her husband Patrick Cahill, of Cumberland, RI, and a step-daughter Kim (Finlay) and her husband Jeff DiDonato of Wolcott, CT. Gail loved and adored her four grandsons, Gavin, Travis, Declan, and Cedric. She also leaves behind her BFF, Nancy Silvestri, of Danbury, CT. She also leaves behind many friends and cousins, whom she referred to as her "cousin sisters". Gail will be remembered by her infectious smile, warm spirit, and her enormous heart, a person who lit up a room when she entered it. They say angels walk amongst us every day here on earth, Gail was clearly one of them. Now she has the wings to prove it.
Funeral services will be held at the First Assembly of God Church,133 Junction Rd., Brookfield, on Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Ann’s Place Home of I Can, 80 Saw Mill Rd., Danbury, CT 06810 or the Praxair Cancer Center, 24 Hospital Ave., Danbury, CT 06810.
