Eugene Gallucci

Eugene J. Gallucci, 84, of Danbury, beloved husband of Nancy (Albert) Gallucci, passed away peacefully at his home, on Sunday, March 30, 2014, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. Gene was born on April 12, 1929, son of the late Charles P. and Rose (Caprio) Gallucci, Sr.

A lifelong Danbury resident, Gene, at the age of 14, joined his father as a barber in his father's shop on White Street, Danbury, eventually taking over the business when his father retired. He was a graduate of Danbury High School and had served in the Army during the Korean War, stationed in Virginia and Labrador. Gene was very active in local politics during the 1960's and 1970's serving on the common council. He was a longtime member of St. Joseph Church.

An avid golfer since childhood, Gene had no problem filling his free time after retirement. He thououghly enjoyed spending winters in Vero Beach, FL among family and friends. Gene especially enjoyed the time spent with his niece, Carol Jarrett and husband, David, and their family.

In addition to his beloved wife of 59 years, Nancy, he is survived by his four children: Dawn Dinho of Danbury, Lori Zarcone and husband Joseph of Brookfield, Jill Fay and husband Eric of Southbury and John Gallucci of Danbury; six grandchildren: Jasen, Brittany, Michael and Aimee Zarcone, Kylie and Brian Fay; and two great grandchildren: Noah and Ava Zarcone. He is also survived by brothers-in-law George Graef, William Peyron, and Gary Albert and wife Melinda, and sisters-in-law Kay Keating and husband Edward, and Ann Gallucci and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Charles P. Gallucci, Jr. and William Gallucci and sisters, Gloria Graef and Mary Peyron.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, Danbury, on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, is in charge of arrangements.
