Eileen was born in Bay Shore, NY, the daughter of the late Matthew H. Walsh and Margaret (Dolan) Walsh.
She attended Bay Shore High School and graduated in 1964.
Eileen worked for the City of Danbury in the Town Clerk’s Office and most recently for Parks and Recreation. She spent many years as part of the Stand Together Make A Difference coalition, and was also past president for the Danbury Family Learning Center.
“Ei” served on the Danbury Board of Education for eighteen years, advocating tirelessly for Danbury’s students as well as the district’s educators. A registered Republican, she spent election days as a volunteer at the polls, often as moderator, with her son Glenn.
Eileen reveled in her Irish heritage; she was active in both The Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, as well as the Greater Danbury Irish Cultural Center. From the Irish language to Irish music and dance, her fascination ran deep. She helped plan and promote the Greater Danbury Irish Festivals, often cooking heroic amounts of corned beef, cabbage, and potatoes. Her soda bread was unparalleled, as long as you liked caraway seeds.
Eileen was predeceased by her father, Matthew H Walsh and her mother, Margaret Dolan Walsh.
Her survivors include her son Glenn J. Endres of Danbury; her brother, Martin P. Walsh and his wife Mary Cordy Walsh, of Golden CO; brother Michael F. Walsh of New Milford CT; and brother Sean Walsh and his wife, Judy Reimer Walsh of New Fairfield CT. Her nieces and nephews: Molly and Mickey Walsh of Golden, Colorado; and Jack and Madeleine Walsh of New Milford.
