Dorothy was born in New London, CT on March 29, 1925 daughter of the late Charles and Dora (Carpenter) Hunter. She moved to Danbury as a very young child and made it her home for the rest of her life.
Dorothy was involved in the foster care system for over 40 years. Lucy Murphy has remained particularly close to her and has been a great source of help and comfort. Louella Sustad also visited and sent cards and letters that were supportive. Dorothy was also employed by the Danbury School System as a paraprofessional for 35 years. She truly enjoyed her job and only retired as her health took a downward turn.
Dorothy prided herself in her independence and always maintained an impeccable home. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family was always her priority.
She is survived by her daughter Kathy Lynn (Pillow) and her son-in-law, Jehad Sabbagh of Danbury, her grandson Kurt Sabbagh and his wife Kirsten, her great grandchildren, Jacob and Madison Sabbagh of Danbury. She is also survived by her sisters, Charlotte Prybylski of Danbury, Ruth Garcia of Charleston, S.C. and her brother Charles of Hemingay, NC, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Dorothy is predeceased by her grandson, Ryan Sabbagh and her sisters Doris Tift and Mildred Taylor.
