Diana was born on July 14, 1932 in Lynn, Massachusetts to the late Edgar and Mary Marquis. She was the oldest of 9 children. She was raised on Long Island before moving to Danbury at the age of 12. She was a graduate of the class of 1949 from Danbury High School.
After raising her children, Diana worked for the Town of New Fairfield for 42 years, finally retiring at the age of 82. She served admirably for 23 years as the Town clerk.
After retiring from the Town clerk's office in 2004, she spent her time rekindling her love of quilting. She made a quilt for each one of her 5 children and 14 grandchildren. Her retirement ended when she was called back to the Town Hall by the newly elected First Selectmen, John Hodge. She continued to work as the First Selectman’s secretary part-time until she officially retired for good. Besides her quilting, Diana enjoyed spending time with her family at the endless “Marquis” parties and gatherings and family camping trips.
Diana is survived by her children, Rick (Kathi) Peck, Debbie (Fred) Scheer, Randy (Sue) Peck and Darleen (Tom) Alesi. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; her sisters: Alice Marquis, Maureen Marlowe, Germaine McCarroll, Mary Angell (Ken Spaeth); and brother Jim Marquis (Magda). Also survived by her dearest and best friend of 80 years, Lorraine “Tweet” Sturges and her 30 nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter Donna Blackwell, grandson Tyler Cullen; her brothers Eddie, Donald and Raymond Marquis. Also predeceased by the father of her children, Ronald Peck.
Friends will be received from 12:00pm - 2:45pm on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT.
A Prayer Service will be conducted at 2:45pm on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at the funeral home.
Burial in Gerow Cemetery, New Fairfield, CT will be private.
