Dennis was born and raised in Danbury, CT, son of the Helen (Marasco) LaJoie of West Palm Beach, FL, formerly of Danbury and the late Donald J. LaJoie. His roots were always in Danbury even though he moved to Bethel after his marriage to Karen so that his stepdaughters could continue to attend schools there.
He attended St. Joseph’s School in Danbury and graduated from Henry Abbott Technical High School in 1980 from the Automobile Body Repair Course.
Dennis worked at Car-land Auto Body in Danbury, as an auto body technician, starting while he was still in high school. He later changed trades to floor installation, first with Morrelli’s in Ridgefield and for over 20 years he owned and operated his own company, LaJoie Floors.
An avid golfer, Dennis enjoyed playing with family and friends even though he did not get to play quite as often as he wished. Beginning in his teens he worked on race cars at the old Danbury Racearena and was always an avid fan of NASCAR.
Dennis especially enjoyed the time that he was able to spend with his three beloved grandchildren and would tell everyone how special they were to him.
In addition to his wife of 23 years, he is survived by his stepdaughters: Lauren E. Kunz and Danielle M. Knoche (John) and his cherished grandchildren: Austin, Trip, and Emersyn. His mother, Helen (Marasco) LaJoie; his brother, David Lajoie (Tracie); and his sister, Michele Chipman (John). Also, his nieces and nephews: David, Danielle, Douglas, Jordan, and Meghan.
He is predeceased by his father, Donald J. LaJoie and his sister, Denise B. LaJoie.
A private ceremony for Dennis will take place on Saturday, October 10th at St Joseph Church, Danbury. A memorial service for his father, Donald, who died in April will be held at the same time.
The family extends an invitation to the Graveside Service at St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury at 11:30AM on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020.
His wife and family would like to thank the Danbury Hospital ICU for their outstanding care and sympathy towards the family during this difficult time.
