Christine was born in Waterbury to Beatrice Budd and Leslie William Hawley on October 3, 1935. She graduated from Danbury High School. She married Joseph Hawley on July 27, 1957, in Danbury CT. They moved to Redding in 1960. She worked for Tarrget Laundry and Danbury Rubber Company before joining the U.S. Postal Service as a part-time carrier in West Redding CT. She became a clerk and retired from the post office after 30 years. In retirement, she and her husband Joe moved to Adamstown, PA where they enjoyed going to auctions, estate sales, and flea markets. They bought and sold antiques as Hawley’s Antiques at local markets. During the pandemic they continued selling what they had on hand at online markets. In October of 2021 they moved back to Connecticut.
Christine is preceded in death by her brother William Hawley.
Christine is survived by her husband of 65 years Joseph. Her daughter Leslie and husband Michael Bardelli. Her sister Helen Skinnell of Knoxville Tenn, half-sister, Maria Sniffin of Poughkeepsie NY, half-brother, Richard Adams of Southbury CT as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
A memorial visitation for Christine will be held Friday, December 2, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St, Danbury, CT, followed by words of remembrance at 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to donate to an organization of your choice in Christine’s memory. Her husband and daughter would also like to send sincere thanks to all those who cared for Christine at Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital as well as Candlewood Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center during her illness.
