She was born to the late Walter and Emily (Lac) Dembiczak, May 29, 1931, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Cecilia grew up in New Haven (preferred Sally’s Pizza), received a BS from UCONN, and a Master’s from Yale (Zoology). She worked in a technical field in California and NYC, started and raised a family in New Fairfield, and had a second career in the supermarkets until retirement.
Cecilia is survived by her sons William (Trish) McWilliams and David McWilliams, her granddaughters Emily (Glenn) Millen and Ally (Tanner Ernest) McWilliams, and her great-granddaughter Lumina. Cecilia was predeceased by her husband, William (2012), and her brother, Walter (1969).
Cecilia enjoyed her twenties in Malibu, California while working in the technical field, and continued her career as a Fortran Programmer for IBM in NYC. After starting a family in New Fairfield, she devoted her life to her children. She enjoyed trips to the city from her teenage years on, first with friends, and then with her sons. She enjoyed the museums, the park, the zoos, and FAO Schwartz. Christmas time was especially magical, with visits to Rockefeller Center and Radio City Music Hall. She continued these traditions with her granddaughters. Her interests also included gardening, bird watching, doing the crossword (but not on Friday), and eating dessert (anything chocolate).
A visitation for Cecilia will be held Sunday, November 19, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, with a prayer service at 2:30 PM. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of sending flowers, the family requests a donation to the American Cancer Society or the Audubon Society in her memory.
