Willie D. Mitchell Jr.

Willie D. Mitchell, Jr. was born July 31, 1943, to the parentage of the late Willie D. Mitchell Sr. and Geneva Mitchell in Dallas, Texas. He was the third child born in the family of five children. He received his education at “The Great” James Madison High School in Dallas, Texas, class of 1961. He accepted Christ at an early age at Bold Street Christian Church, which is now Warren Avenue Christian Church under the leadership of the late Reverend MC Dickson. He remained a faithful member until his declining health prohibited him from serving. His faithful services included the Disciple Men’s Fellowship, Trustee Board, Deacon and Stewardship and Finance Chairman. He was honored with the “Legacy of Saints” award in 2013, and also presented with the Arthur Donalson Man of the Year award in 2016. Willie D. Mitchell, Jr. was married to Julie Jacobs for 6 years. He was later married to the late Neva Jo Mitchell for 43 years. He was the father of four children: Laura, Rhonda, Angela and William Christopher. Willie D. was employed with the United States Postal Service for 33 years. After retirement he was owner and proprietor of Mitchell’s Trophy and Signs. He was happiest when he attended his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s school activities and sports events. He also served as Chairman of the Board of the Kliff Klub, Incorporated. Willie entered his eternal home on September 13, 2017. He was welcomed by his parents; his siblings, Earnestine, Pauline and Hodges; and his loving wife, Neva Jo Mitchell. He leaves to cherish his legacy and memory: his four children, Laura Masters, Rhonda Robinson (Efrem Sr.), Angela Smith (Willie Jr.) and William Christopher Mitchell (Syreeta); his brother, Donald Mitchell (Joyce); nine grandchildren, Efrem Robinson II (Nikki), Brittni Anderson (Ashton), Alec Smith, Michael Smith, Nicholas Masters, Evan Smith, Sydney Smith, Madisyn Mitchell and Jacsyn Mitchell; two great-grandchildren, Ashlynne Anderson and Jonah Robinson; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
