Merle Nelson Hughes, age 94, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2020 in Lake Worth, TX. She was born on Monday, February 16, 1925 in Pioneer, Texas to Chilton Brim and Lillian Nelson (Van). Merle was married to Jack Leslie Hughes for 50 years and they had 2 children together. She was a dedicated wife and mother and always kept a nice home for her husband and children. In Merle’s spare time she enjoyed cross stitch, golf, bowling, travel, cooking, and spending time with her family. She will be remembered by friends and family for her fun loving and giving personality. Merle is preceded in death by her Husband of 50 years Jack L. Hughes, daughter Jaclan Hendrixson, and parents Chilton B. Nelson and Lillian Van Nelson. She is survived by her son, James Nelson Hughes and wife Connie Hughes, Granddaughters Lisa Hughes Smartt, Megan Nicole Hughes, Grandsons Jason Brim Copeland, Seth Rollin Copeland and Jacob Leslie Hughes, 10 great grandchildren and Son in law Bruce Hendrixson, as well as many loving friends and extended family.
