William "Sonny" Gerald Shifflett, Jr.

William Gerald Shifflett, Jr., “Sonny”, age 62, peacefully passed away on March 9, 2020 in Dallas, Texas. He was born on July 30, 1957 in Cleveland, Texas to Eulalia “Lolly” and William Gerald “Duke” Shifflett, Sr. Sonny lived in several different parts of the county growing up. He attended and graduated from Woodward High School in Woodward, OK in 1975. On August 23, 1980 he married Kristina “Kristy” Tournear, and they had two children. Sonny worked as a registered nurse for over 25 years working at Woodward Regional Hospital in Woodward, OK and later transferring to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK where he eventually retired. Sonny was one of the most experienced nurses at both hospitals he worked and was often requested to start IV’s on newborns and to help with the more difficult patients. In his spare time Sonny enjoyed crafting (making jewelry), cooking, taking care of his glow fish, eating jolly rancher candy, watching birds, and conversing with friends and family. He will always be remembered as a caregiver and someone who never failed to make you laugh or put a smile on your face. Sonny is survived by his parents, Duke and Lolly Shifflett of Woodward, OK, two sons, Todd Shifflett and spouse Saul Olivarez of Dallas, TX, and Kelby Shifflett and spouse Miranda of Noble, OK, two brothers, Steven Shifflett of Oklahoma City, OK and Kent Shifflett of Woodward, OK and their spouses, his sister, Vicki Robinson of Leedey, OK, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
