William Eugene (Bill) Compton was born on April 19, 1967 in Amarillo, Texas and passed away on May 20, 2016 in Dallas, Texas after a courageous ten month battle with cancer. Bill graduated from Borger High School in Borger, Texas in 1986 and went on to graduate with honors from Texas Christian University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. Bill was a proud member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity at TCU.
Bill married the love of his life, Chris Ann Morrow Compton, in 1993. They have one beloved son, Will Compton. Bill’s greatest joy in life was his family. One of the highlights of Bill’s life was coaching Will’s youth Trojan football team. He joyfully participated in all of Will’s sports and school activities, never missing a single game. Bill was the spiritual leader of his home. He worshiped, along with his family, at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, where he was an usher for over 10 years. Bill’s successful financial career started as a CPA with PricewaterhouseCoopers and he went on to work for PepsiCo Corporation for 20 years. Most recently, Bill was a financial executive for Dr Pepper Snapple Group where he valued all of his co-workers and genuinely delighted in going to work every day.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Chris Ann Morrow Compton, his son William Eugene Compton II, his parents Nona Compton, Barbara and Joe Kerr, his sister Karen Compton Stanton, brother-in-law Jim Stanton, mother and father-in-law Pansy and Sammy Morrow, brother and sister-in-law Bonnie and Jack Morrow, and his niece and nephew Madison and Jack Morrow.
Bill was preceded in death by his adoring father, Gene Compton. Bill was a great friend and was loved by all who knew him and will be missed greatly. Bill loved the Lord, his family, the TCU Horned Frogs, the Dallas Cowboys, and vintage guitars.
Memorial donations are encouraged in Bill’s name to a charity of your choice benefiting underprivileged youth sports programs.
