Wesley J. Wyatt, Sr. was born to the late Willie B. and Johnnie Wyatt on June 12, 1937 in Caldwell, Texas. He attended Bryan Public Schools and was a proud alumnus of E. A. Kemp High School. Wesley (or Baby J as he was known to family and friends) was baptized at a young age in Bryan, Texas where he was an early member of West Union Missionary Baptist Church. When he was a young man, Wesley joined the Army, where after completing basic training he served in the Panama Canal Zone as an M.P. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he moved to Dallas where he was hired by Sears. Wesley retired after thirty years as a supervisor in the Appliance Repair Department.
He joined Griggs Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member for over sixty years. Wesley became a Deacon and was a proud member of the Men’s Choir for many years. In his later years he could be found in his favorite spot in the back pews (and you did not sit in his spot) until his health issues slowed his attendance. He loved to fish. When Wesley could no longer fish you would often find him in front of the TV watching his Western’s or watching the Texas A&M Aggies play football.
On Wednesday, November 20, 2019, Wesley was welcomed into his eternal home of Glory, by his cherished wife, Georgia J. Wyatt and his brothers, Johnnie James Wyatt, Jr., Charlie Wyatt and Claude Wade.
He leaves to cherish his memories: daughter, Elizabeth A. Shepard; son, Kevie Beard (Dinah); son, Wesley Wyatt, Jr. (Cassandra); daughter, Danette Ausborne; daughter, Lisa Thompson (James); daughter, Wandas Turner (Kevin); son, Rodney Wyatt and son, Larry Gilbert; sister, Carrie B. Nelms; brother, Robert Lee Wyatt (Nancy) and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives, friends and neighbors.
