Wesley Flynn Orr Sr.

Wesley was born in Houston, TX on April 29, 1949, and went to be with our Lord on July 15, 2021. After graduating from Waltrip High School, Wesley attended Sam Houston State University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in German with a minor in Economics. He then taught German and coached tennis at Lake Highlands High School. He worked for IBM for over 20 years in various roles, but his favorite was creating and teaching Information Technology (IT) classes to other IBMers.

After retiring from the IT world, Wesley became a lay minister at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Dallas, where nothing gave him greater pleasure than giving the Children’s message every week.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James E. and A. Earline (Starnes) Orr; son James F. Orr, and grandson Daniel Orr.

Wesley is survived by his loving wife, N. Stephanie; his sons Wesley Jr. (Ruth) and Richie (Carie); grandchildren Reid, Emma, Jakki, Anthony, Taylor, Easton, Zach, Lyndon, Paige, Christina, Brett, and Maddie; cousins Patricia (John) Gross, Mike (Marti) Starnes, Nancy (Ken) Brummet, and Margaret (Herb) Gragg; and other various family members.

The family would like to thank the staff at Sandy Lake Rehabilitation and Care Center for their devoted care of Wesley over the last year.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 20, at 12:00 pm at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6300 South R.L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas TX 75232. Calling hours will be Monday, July 19, from 6 to 8 pm at Laurel Land Funeral Home.
