Wanda Joyce Smith

Wanda Joyce Smith, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 in Dallas, Texas. She was born on July 24, 1941 in Wills Point, Van Zandt, Texas to Valree Malone and Roy V. Hunter. Wanda was raised in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Forest High School. She married Charles Hayden Carter in 1957 and the couple had 4 children. Wanda worked as an administrative assistant for many years.

In her spare time Wanda enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family, bowling, telling jokes, online shopping and always enjoying every minute of life, making everyone feel loved. She loved dancing, decorating, playing 42, watching the Dallas Cowboys and spending time on Facebook. Her family and friends will always remember her as a sweet and giving person who was pure entertainment. Someone who always made sure others were taken care of first before thinking of herself, whether that was birthday gifts, cards or Christmas gifts. She was a fun, spunky, leo-loving grandma with a big heart. She poured all of her love into her family. Ain't This Fun!

Wanda is preceded in death by Roy Hunter, Valree Berg, Janice Swindell, Gerald Hunter, Neta Knuckles, Charles Carter and Elton (Smitty) Smith. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sherry Johansen and Jim Dickey, Terri and Ron Adair, Charles Adams and Pam and Darel Belz; grandchildren, Sharece Jentzen, Shane Jentzen Courtney Keller, Chad Keller and Emily Manos, Taylor Adair, Charlie Adams, Shawn and Melissa Johansen, Ryan Adair and Denisse Ortiz, Brendan Johansen and Maddie Collier, Austin Adams, Christina Wade, Ashly and Brett Sanders and Darel Belz II; great-grandchildren, Haley Jentzen and Arthur Hernandez, Cohen Jentzen, Madison Jentzen, Blaise Keller-Hernandez, Ava Reynolds, Jack Johansen, Hannah Johansen, Savannah Sanders and Ryden Adair and Reznor Adams; special bond her niece, Vickie Holcomb and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many special friends.

A visitation for Wanda will be held Monday, October 31, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75228. A funeral service will occur Monday, October 31, 2022 at 11:00 AM, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75228. A committal service will occur Monday, October 31, 2022 at Grove Hill Memorial Park, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75228.
