Walter Frank Tucker

Dr. Tucker practiced medicine as an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist in Plano, Texas for 25 years before retiring. He was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and graduated from Pride High School as valedictorian. After graduating from Louisiana State University in 1959, he attended the Louisiana State University School of Medicine graduating with honors. Dr. Tucker successfully completed an internship and Otolaryngology residency at the University of Texas Medical in Galveston, Texas. His residency training was interrupted for two years of military service during the Vietnam War as E.N.T. specialist with the United States Air Force at Scott Air Force base. Following the completion of his military service and residency program, Dr. Tucker passed his Otolaryngology Board Certification and began his private practice in Port Arthur, Texas in 1972. After ten years of private practice, he left Port Arthur due to health concerns and opened a practice in Plano, Texas where he served the Plano community until retiring.

He married the love of his life, Sarah Charlotte Krebs, on December 22, 1961 while in medical school. He is survived by Sarah, his wife of 61 years, his sister, JoAnn Pulliam, his two children and their spouses, Marcus Tucker and Robin Kelm Tucker and Robin Tucker Stevens and Jim Stevens and his six grandchildren, John, Madeline and Sarah Tucker and Trent, Kate and Beck Stevens. He is predeceased in death by his brother, Donald Lee Tucker, sister-in-law, Bertha Tucker, brother-in-law, Reggie Pulliam and parents, Ella McDonald Tucker and Walter Lee Tucker.

Dr. Tucker grew up on a dairy farm and had a great recollection of farm life growing up. He liked taking family trips in the summer to the beach in Gulf Shores, Alabama and Destin, Florida as well as out west, including trips to Colorado, Wyoming and Montana. He enjoyed mastering the computer later in life and loved to read and write, authoring two books, one entitled “5-Star A Country Bull of Legend” about experiences with a bull from his childhood and another chronicling his journey to find Christ as a younger man.

A funeral service will be held at Prestonwood Baptist Church Chapel, 6801 W. Park Blvd., Plano, Texas at 11:00 am on September 13, 2022 with a visitation immediately preceding at 10:00 am. A reception will follow the funeral service, and the burial will take place at the DFW National Cemetery in Arlington, Texas at 2:00 pm.
