My sincere condolences to the family and friends that knew and loved Von.  I'm just learning of his story from Priscilla Shirer's instagram and said WOW what a jewel, kind, loving person he was.  I was compelled to say something honoring Von's life, because I was deeply moved and searching myself to see how I can improve in these areas.   Those qualities are rare these days and I'm so glad to know that each of you encountered his love.  I mourn the fact that I never God to meet him but I look forward to seeing you in Glory my brother.

Dear Von, I am missing you knowing that when I am in Dallas I will not see your big smile and my big hug. Thank you for being a ‘Kingdom Man’ and now the Lord has called you home to the Kingdom you served and I know you have already heard - Well done good and faithful servant. 
I am Thankful to the Lord that I had the joy of 
knowing you and spending time with you. Because of Calvary, I will look forward to seeing you again where there will be no more parting, pain nor sorrow. We grieve your loss with hope and assurance. Thank you Von. Aunt Ruth. 

I am so sorry to hear about Von.  He was such a sweet guy.  I will never forget the time I met him at Momma Dot’s house.  He was such a wonderful person.  He will be greatly missed!!  Praying for his family!  Love you all, Lynn & Drew

Oh Von, what a friend and colleague.  
Your passing deeply saddens me. I will certainly cherish the cool and special moments working with you on special projects that we collaborated and collectively worked on together.... But the most important thing that you have shared and showed me was your support - caring and compassion as I went thru my Cancer battle that I've overcome. 
This would not have come to pass without a whole lot of faith and prayers from yourself as well as many others.

Sorry to hear about the passing of your brother and your friend but this is not where your relationship ends. This is where a new chapter starts from memories embedded in your mind and heart. Every time I think of Von, all I see is his smile. He always greeted me with that smile.  I will always remember his sweet and kind heart Our hearts are aching with you, and please know we are praying for you.

Growing up the Shirer's was a military family. I am from Florida but we usually meet at his grandmother's home every 2-3 years in Alabama for a family cookout. I was glad to see all my cousins but when I saw Von he greeted me with his beautiful smile that was warm and inviting. He always took the time to stop and talk with that ☺ smile. He never was too busy. I'm glad I  got to spend time with you Von.  
You have my deepest and sincere condolences.   Von was loved and will be missed. Although it's difficult to see beyond the sorrow, may looking back in memory help you tomorrow.   Love Val
