She was born Virginia Murray on February 14, 1925, to the late Edmond and Vida Murray of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was a graduate of Tulsa High School and attended the University of Tulsa, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Humphreys and her siblings, John Murray, Ed Murray and Mary Jane Hoffman
She met James Robert Humphreys in high school and married shortly after graduation, when Bob was a pilot in the US Army Air Corps. They were married more than 70 years, until his passing in 2016 at the age of 93. Bob’s aviation career took the couple to cities across the nation as well as Montreal and Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1985 where they lived for nearly five years before returning to Dallas for their final years together.
Gin is survived by her four children, Larry Humphreys (Dallas); Dave Humphreys (Argentina); Mark Humphreys (Dallas) and Kay Osborn (Ocala) as well as five grandchildren, Jessica Humphreys Baxter; Cassandra Humphreys Guerrero; Stephanie Humphreys; Ashley Osborn; Joshua Osborn; Becky Pullin and Nicole Silvernail.
Gin was an avid Bridge player and was never sick a day in her life. She was a wonderful mother, gave her children several life experiences and opportunities. Bob and Virginia loved each other very much and are happy to be together again.
Due to current health concerns, burial will be a private family graveside service at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas TX, 75225, Friday, May 8th, at 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mark E. Humphreys AIA Chair in Urban Design @ Texas Tech.
