Virginia McLean Blackwell, age 105, passed away on May 25, 2019, in Dallas, Texas. She was a teacher in the Highland Park Independent School District, first at University Park Elementary, and later at the Robert S. Hyer Elementary, 3920 Caruth Blvd., beginning on its opening day in 1949.
She is survived by son, Thomas M. Blackwell, of Dallas.
She was preceded in death by parents Andrew McLean and Melissa O.
McLean, of Fort Worth. Andrew McLean was a farmer, rancher and elected school board member, and by her husband T.J. Blackwell of Dallas. Mr.
Blackwell had a career at the US Treasury Department. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Highland Park United Methodist Church.
Also preceding her in death are her brother, Harlan O. McLean, his wife Mary Bonner McLean, her sister Ann McLean Chesser and husband Stewart Chesser, and her sister Mary Jane McLean Bullock, and husband Colonel Kenneth Bullock.
She was a graduate of TCU in Fort Worth.
