Vernon Oland Hogue, Sr., age 95 of Dallas, passed away on March 3, 2016. He was born on June 22, 1920 in Jefferson County, Texas, the son of Dora Ardenia and Lewis Hogue. Vernon married his wife Marie on March 27, 1940 and she preceded him in death in 1998.
Vernon is survived by his son Michael Hogue and wife Linda; grandchildren Kelli Werchan and husband Allen, Michelle Fratto and husband Barney, Kyle Hogue and wife Erin, Shawn Hogue and wife Krystala, and Kevin Hogue and wife Dena; great grandchildren Jake Hanley, Brock Werchan, Alex Fratto, Clay Fratto, Meagan Hogue, Abby Hogue, Dalton Hogue, and Kylie Hogue. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marie, son Vernon Hogue, Jr., five brothers and two sisters.
Vernon was a past member of Urban Park Baptist Church in Dallas, as well as the Dallas Masonic Lodge. He owned his own farm and loved working on it, and was able to enjoy helping out even up to the age of 94. Vernon had worked for the CC Camp in California before being transferred to Dallas at White Rock Lake. He worked in several area companies including Lockheed Martin, Otis Elevator, the old Medical Arts Building and most recently the Campbell Center.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 6 from 6-8 PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Monday at 2PM, also at Grove Hill Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park.
