Ty was born on September 13, 1991, in New York, to Jennifer Long Pickens and Thomas Boone Pickens III. He was a graduate of Austin High School, where he was on the golf and debate teams. He was a lover of music, art, snowboarding, golf and hunting. Ty adored his family as they adored him. He loved spending time among the grand mesas of the north Texas Panhandle with his cousins.
As a child, he was raised in the storybook towns of Charleston, South Carolina and Austin, Texas. His world revolved around his loving mother, father, sweet sister and adoring dog Zeus, who will love him forever.
Ty was a very generous young man, who was willing to sacrifice anything for anyone. He had a sweet and kind soul. As a deep spiritual and philosophical thinker, we are sure that he has peace as God welcomes him to his new home in heaven.
At TCU, Ty was majoring in strategic communications with a minor in business. He was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
Ty is survived by his parents, Jennifer and Tom of Austin, and his sister, Joyce Pickens of Los Angeles, California; his grandparents, Lynn O’Brien and T. Boone Pickens, both of Dallas; his aunts, Pam Pickens of Newport Beach, CA, Deborah Stovall of Dallas, TX, Liz Cordia of Alexandria, VA, and Cynthia Blodgett of Hampton, NH; and an uncle, Bruce Long of Oxford, MD. Ty was greeted in heaven by his grandparents Cyrus Oscar and Joyce T. Long
