Dr. Le Coney was born on January 14, 1953, in Richmond, Virginia, to Mr. and Mrs. Horace Morgan Le Coney, Jr. While he resided in Texas for the majority of his life, Dr. Le Coney maintained a life-long love of Virginia where he had enjoyed boating in the waters of the Chesapeake Bay as a young man.
Dr. Le Coney attended Highland Park High School in Dallas and the University of Texas at Austin before receiving his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio. He completed a residency in Emergency Medicine at Texas Tech University Medical School at El Paso and went on to practice in the ER departments at Harris Methodist in Fort Worth and Campbell Memorial in Weatherford, Texas. He spent his career doing what he loved—restoring others to health—and was well-regarded by his many colleagues and patients who appreciated his talent and his company.
Dr. Le Coney and Sharon Sepulveda Taylor raised three children: Christopher Ratcliffe Le Coney, Elizabeth Le Coney Hambleton, and Thomas Sepulveda Le Coney. Dr. Le Coney took great pride in his children's accomplishments and enjoyed sharing diverse interests with them such as technology, hunting, automotive restoration, and energetic discussions of current affairs.
Dr. Le Coney is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Huchet de Kernion Le Coney; his three brothers, Michael Morgan Le Coney, John Campbell Le Coney, Richard Huchet Le Coney; and his three children. Many friends and colleagues also mourn the loss of his humor, intellectual insights, and warm-hearted nature. A funeral mass will be held at 2:00 PM this Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Dallas. Condolences can be conveyed via Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home in Dallas.
