Dr. T. W. Bywaters, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and physician, died peacefully on March 19, 2018. He was born on October 9, 1931, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, to Dr. T. W. Bywaters and Helen Koehler Bywaters. At a young age, the family moved to Dallas where he and his brother Walter were raised.
Ted received his college degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder. He attended Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, receiving his M.D. in 1957. During medical school he became engaged to his sweetheart and truly the love of his life, Carol Elizabeth Anderson. Ted and Carol were married in 1954 in Dallas. Thus began a marriage that would prosper for the next 63 years. They had two sons; Daniel Bywaters who, with his wife Leslie have four wonderful children, Jacob, Jonathan, Michelle and Macie; Kenneth Bywaters and his wife Elaine Prins have two equally wonderful children, Annalie and Elyssa.
Ted was a gifted orthopaedic surgeon and he loved to work with his hands. In his spare time he built a telescope, a car, a television, as well as much of the furniture in their home. He enjoyed hunting, tinkering with his cars, mowing his lawn and many other outdoor activities with his family. Summer vacations on the western slope of the Colorado Rockies are treasured memories. There are few mountain back roads that remain unexplored with Ted’s beloved 1968 cherry red Ford Bronco.
He was an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, located at Midway and Northaven in Dallas. He and Carol have been members there since 1963. We celebrate his life which was well lived.
Memorial services will be held at Good Shepherd, Saturday, March 24th at 1:00pm.
