Thelma Nell Roberts, 96, formerly of Dallas, went to be with her Heavenly Father on February 15, 2017, at the home of her niece in Lindale, Texas, with her loving family at her side. She was born in Bynum, Texas, on October 20, 1920, to Roy and Ethel Roberts. Nell grew up in Abbott, Texas, and the Mayfield Community. She graduated from Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, Texas. Nell worked for many years as a cosmetician at Skillern’s Drugs, Medallions, and later retired from Skaggs Alpha Beta. She was an active member of Ridgewood Park United Methodist Church until her health began to fail. Nell was also an active member of Ridgewood AARP. Nell is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Ethel Roberts; brothers, Lt. Colonel James Roberts, Bill Roberts, and Dr. Ronald E. Roberts and his twin brother, Donald Roberts; sister, Mary Elizabeth Roberts Jordan; and nephew, Larry Jordan. She is survived by her nieces, Kristy Nell Roberts Havard and husband, Trent, Amy Elizabeth Roberts Keenum and husband, Donnie, and their mother, Linda Roberts Kelly; Vickie Allison and husband, Jim, and Debbie Jordan Smith; sister-in law, Ramona Roberts Wheeler; and numerous great nieces and great nephews. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home. A celebration of Nell’s life will be held at 12 p.m. in the chapel of Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home, with Chaplain Randall Ator as officiant. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, with nephews and family friends honoring the family as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, Nell has requested that memorial donations in her memory be made to Ridgewood Park United Methodist Church, 6445 East Lovers Lane, Dallas, Texas 75214.
