Teresa Lynn Lockett

Teresa Lynn (Peacock) Lockett was born in Dallas, Texas, on October 7, 1948. She died from complications of cancer at her home in Rowlett, Texas, on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at the age of 68. Her daughter Kelly Briceno, an aide from Vitas Health Care (Hospice Care), and her husband Tom Lockett were with her when she died.

She was proceeded in death by her mother and father, Dorris Lucille (Moman) and Slater Austin Peacock, Jr.; by her grandparents, Carrie and Slater Peacock, and Verna Underwood and Granville Moman.

She was survived by her husband, David T. Lockett; son, Stephen Lockett and husband Raven of Caddo Mills; daughter, Kelly Briceno of Rockwall; two grandsons, Trey and Logan Briceno; sisters, Vicki Mackenzie and husband Rod of Sachse, and Jan Bergmann; brother and sister-in-law, Mike Lockett and wife Pat of Buena Vista, Colorado; nieces and nephews, Todd Mackenzie and husband Rigo Lopez, Marci Huffman and husband Brian of Sachse, Bill Lockett and wife Beth of Buena Vista, Colorado, Amy Lockett, Jane Brown and husband Luke, and Lori Lockett and fiancé David Ross.

When Teresa was young, she had a pet donkey named Cisco. She attended Lake Highlands Elementary School, Wallace Elementary School, Lake Highlands Junior High School, and graduated from Lake Highlands High School in 1966. She married David T. Lockett in the small chapel at Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, on Saturday evening, March 25, 1967. Dr. Herbert R. Howard officiated and pronounced them married around 7:45 p.m. They celebrated their 50th anniversary with their family and friends on Saturday, March 25, 2017. She worked for the School Book Depository from 1966 to 1967. She then worked at a cleaners with her Aunt Donie before becoming a homemaker to take care of their children. She was a volunteer at the PTA for Martha Turner Reilly Elementary School and Robert T. Hill Middle School, and Bryan Adams High School. She received a PTA Texas Life Membership at Martha T. Reilly Elementary School and Bryan Adams High School. She also received a national PTA Life Membership.

Teresa’s life was enriched by her family and friends who gave her support during her illness. Her friends were enriched by her friendship and caring life style. She enjoyed kidding people about how she was a professional on everything.
