Teresa grew up in a handful of towns, but no matter where she was, she was singing in the church choir, and making friends everywhere she went. Teresa graduated from Duck Hill High School at the top of her class and received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the Mississippi University for Women. She was also a member of the Lancers of the ‘W, and was loved by many.
Teresa was a fantastic piano player, just like her mother Blondie Jean, and found ways to make people laugh through music, and storytelling. She also had a passion for loving any animal in sight. The amount of love she had to give to the world was limitless. Even if you cut her off during a story, she still loved you!
She was married to Bret Jones on November 28th, 1981, in Duck Hill, and soon after that became what she declared an official ‘Texsippian’ of the United States of America.
Teresa wore many hats, and she wore them with style. She worked as an auditor for the state of Mississippi and had a long career as an accountant at Groco Specialty Coatings in Dallas Texas, where she made friends that would last a lifetime. She was a Sunday school teacher, and a perfectionist when it came to bookkeeping. She was a frequent donor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, and the Salvation Army. She was an absolute force at holiday decorating, gift wrapping, and was a profound collector of ‘knick knacks’.
She is survived by her only daughter, Jordan Jones.
Teresa’s level of compassion and empathy for any stranger on the street was unmatched. She made everyone around her smile, and she made those closest to her, better people. She was a light, and a source of pure joy to anyone who met her, and will continue to be, from Heaven above, where she is surrounded by her family and friends. She’s home, and she’s happy!
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3pm, October 15th, at Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas.
