Teddy Ivan Holden passed away on July 18, 2022 in Frisco, Texas. He was born March 17, 1947 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Glenn Ivan Holden and Elizabeth Jane Holden, who owned the Ivanhoe Restaurant and later the Ivanhoe Carpet Shop. Ted was raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan where he attended high school at Loy Norrix High School, where he graduated in 1965 and later attended Kalamazoo College.
Ted married Kathy Lynne Ver Hage in 1988 and together they raised 2 children. He was a Senior Vice President of Auditing and Loan Review at First of America Bank in Kalamazoo, where he worked for more than 30 years.
He moved to Plano, Texas in 1998 after the bank was sold, to work for ACS to get them through Y2K. Then, he worked for Genpass, also near Dallas, Texas. After Ted retired from corporate life, he pursued a hobby of selling trading cards, especially vintage baseball cards. He also often enjoyed travel, reading, spending time with family, and keeping his cats company.
Ted’s friends and family will always remember him as a loving husband and father. He was goofy but always gave wise counsel when asked. He felt that a day without making a person laugh was a day wasted. His philosophy in life was: “You can only lose your integrity once.” He was ready to go to his forever home and meet Jesus face to face.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife, Kath Lynne (Ver Hage) Holden of Frisco, Texas; sons, Nathaniel Oliver Andrew Holden, and Samuel Thomas Holden of Dallas, Texas; and sister, Susan Plumb of Kalamazoo, Michigan.
A private service will be held at a later date.
