Sylvia Cohen, a lifelong resident of Dallas, was born on May 27, 1916, to Isaac and Rose Fleischer, and passed away on September 20, 2010. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend to all. She set the bar for all of us to follow with her grace, kindness and most of all her love of family. May our memories of her be shared for a lifetime. She was an entrepreneur who opened the first resale clothing store in Dallas and later leveraged her love of antiques by establishing Remarkable Antiques, working every day until she was 92. Sylvia was preceded in death by Norman, her loving husband of over 60 years. She is survived by son Gary Cohen and wife Carol, daughter Betsy Teitell and husband Todd; grandchildren Rob Cohen and wife Jen; Dana Gaswirth and husband Brad; Greg Cohen and wife Rachel; Jennifer, Brian and Heather Teitell; great-grandchildren Hannah, Reese, Mia, Nate, Dylan, Garrett and Gabe; and brother Dave Fleischer and wife Grace. A funeral service will be 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at Sparkman Hillcrest Northwest Highway Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sylvia’s memory can be made to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital, 2222 Welborn St., Dallas, Texas 75219 or Congregation Shearith Israel, 9401 Douglas Ave., Dallas, Texas 75225.
