Susie Viola Wells

Susie Viola Wells was born August 26, 1921, and entered her new life on August 10, 2015. She was born in Sulphur Bluff, Texas, in Hopkins County, to Birtie Mae Basham and Loyd Franklin Chester. She graduated in the top of her class as Valedictorian from Sulphur Bluff High School in 1939. She was married to Woodrow Wells for 64 years, who preceded her in death. They were blessed with five children. Harold Wayne Wells, married to Sally Ann, and Robert Darrell Wells, married to Billie Gail, both preceded her in death. She is survived by three of her children: Cynthia Dianne Terrell, married to Pete Terrell; Nickey Lloyd Wells, married to Rhonda Lynn; and Tracy Lynn Wright, married to C B Wright Jr. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Hennessee, and three brothers, Billy Chester, Jay Chester, and LD (Red) Chester. She has 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She worked in the church nursery for over 20 years and kept children in her home for well over 40 years. She was also a Sunday School teacher for many years in the Willing Workers class at Millbrook Baptist Church. At the time of her death, she was a member of First Baptist Church Lancaster. To everyone who had the opportunity to meet and see the love of Susie Wells in action…you probably have your own amazing definition of who she was. Even through all the struggles of her last days, she was a witness to all that were in her presence. If you ever wonder what made this woman so amazing, so loving, so gentle, so caring…look to the cross. There you will find the One who gave His life so Susie could be all that she was to you.
