GRINNAN, SUSANNA SAVILLE CLARK - born February 28, 1916 and passed away February 12, 2011 in Dallas. Susanna was born in Dallas to Edith and Charles Saville and lived her entire life in the city. Her family was active in Dallas affairs. Her father Charles Saville served as Dallas City Engineer and Director of the Dallas Chamber of Commerce and her mother Edith Saville was a founding member of Dallas Shakespeare Society. Her grandfather John Everman served as General Manager of Cotton Belt Railroad and as Supervisor of Public Utilities in Dallas and her grandmother Clara Everman was founding president of the Dallas YWCA. She grew up with four sisters and one brother at the family home Sunnyledge at 3525 Turtle Creek Blvd. She attended the Hockaday School, Highland Park High School and graduated from SMU. In 1937 she married Dallas resident and investment banker Dick Clark, Jr. They enjoyed 57 happy years of marriage until his death in 1994 as they raised their family and participated in many Dallas activities. She was an avid gardener, loved fishing at Little Sandy Hunting and Fishing Club, playing cards, reading, needlework, travel, and going to the latest "in" restaurant. In 1995 she married Lewis P. Grinnan, Jr., a friend from high school days. They enjoyed good times, family life and travel until his death in 2006. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, Junior League of Dallas, Little Sandy Hunting and Fishing Club, Northwood Club and Dallas Country Club, La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club, Church of the Incarnation and her beloved "sewing club" - a group of young women organized in 1938 that met weekly for more than 60 years. She is survived by daughter Diana Ximinia Clark of Dallas and son Dick Clark III and companion Sherry Matthews of Austin, Texas; her step children Neall Rose of Dallas, Peggy Allen and her husband Peter of Dallas, and Lew Grinnan of La Jolla, California; step grandchildren Margaret Oldham Jackson and her husband Lee, Elizabeth Oldham Collett and her husband John, Sarah Schoellkopf Bloom and her husband Sam, Margaret Allen, Annabel Allen, Christopher Grinnan and wife Stephanie, and Flynn Grinnan; step great-grandchildren Dulany Bloom, Oliver Bloom, Henry Haskins, Grinnan Haskins, Porter Collett, Elizabeth Neall Collett, and Margaret Collett. She is also survived by her sister Joan (Mrs. Patrick) McEvoy and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to give thanks to her devoted and beloved caregivers Linda Raney and Linda Rhodes. Also to Glenda McMenamy, Scott Ellshout, Diana Godina, and Faith Presbyterian Hospice.
